Whether you have just graduated high school or are getting started in your first career, you are welcome and will find a home at Young Adults at First. We have a heart for showing how Jesus’ teachings and way of life are still just as relevant today as they were back then. In our group, you’ll find fellowship and friends, games and events (think volleyball tournaments and Yosemite day hikes…), and discipleship and practical biblical teaching. We also believe that Jesus is not just Lord in Lodi - but globally. Come put your faith into action by serving the “least of these” on one of our mission trips to Mexico and see how faith is truly united with our daily lives.

Hey all! My name is John Shinn, and I have the enormous blessing of being the Young Adults Pastor here at First (as well as a few other hats). I am married to my fantastic wife Jacquie and have two kids, Ellie Grace and JD. I believe there is no greater spiritual development time than this chapter of life. Often, for the first time, young adults navigate the world with newfound freedom and independence while determining how to integrate their faith with how they establish their lives. Whether it is work, college, dating, or just figuring out who they will be in life (character, not career), I am excited to walk alongside you through the process of learning how to authentically follow Jesus and truly own your faith. I look forward to you joining us on this sometimes overwhelming but genuinely amazing chapter of life.
